Thermal transfer printing

Recommended for long - lasting labelling : batch numbers , expiry dates ,

barcodes , texts and logos .

Materials required : thermal transfer printer + thermal transfer label

+ thermal transfer ribbon .

The printer ' s print head heats the ink coated film .

The ink then settles on the label . The combination of film and label

is inseparable and guarantees a long printing life .

How to choose the appropriate ribbons :

• Wax enhanced ribbons are used with paper labels as they offer great resistance

to friction , rubbing , and scratches meaning your labels will retain their quality and

legibility even through natural changes in humidity and temperature .

• Remember :

1 . The width of the ribbon must be at least equal to the width of your chosen label .

2 . Always check the length of ribbon accepted by your printer .

Choosing the appropriate label

Direct thermal label on a roll

1 . Check the core diameter ( E ) and the outside diameter ( F )

suitable for your printer .

2 . Choose the format of your label :

Perforation : small format labels , often used in automatic application , are supplied on continuous rolls .

To facilitate the manual use of medium and large format labels , a micro - perforation is provided between each label .
